GOURMET di Lucia Bubilda Nanni
It opens on Thursday 27th July at 6.30pm at MAG-Magazzeno Art Gallery Gourmet di Lucia Bubilda Nanni a personal exhibition of the artist curated by Giovanni Gardini.
The artist from Ravenna offers a series of paintings depicting insects of all kinds, sewn with colored threads that create fragile and strong figures at the same time. The extraordinary technique developed by Lucia Nanni, leaves the viewer speechless and manages, with extreme ease, to talk to all types of public, from the largest to the smallest.
We are proud to host Lucia at MAG, because she is a phenomenal artist, with an incredible technique and unusual elegance. I would describe her as Egon Schiele with the “sewing machine” says the gallery director Alessandra Carini.
“For years, with the precision of an entomologist, the artist collects, observes, studies the insects, one of his great passions” – says the curator Giovanni Gardini -“On top of his work table, moths, bees or wasps are piled up, empty and fragile wrappers, waiting for the sewing machine to break the silence and the needle holes the canvas: countless needles are needed to capture every little detail that patience is acquired. From the elegant legs of the grasshoppers to the impalpable wings of the dragonflies; even the flies are reserved for a curious and passionate look, a particular attention that makes them even interesting “
The exhibition will be open until Friday 8 September, from Tuesday to Saturday from 17:00 to 21:00, in the new gallery of contemporary art recently inaugurated in Darsena.
